Hi!
I am a Brit and have been living in the US for over seven years now. I have been married to a Canadian for nearly six years and we are currently getting all our forms together for my sponsorship so we can move to Canada later this year.
I have been reading that if I send my application to NYC then my application could take 13 months to go through. If someone applies in the UK then it appears to be a lot shorter process. As a Brit can I send my forms to the UK or as I'm living in the US do I have to send them here?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
you can go through London, no problem. On the form, you have to choose which office you "want" - it can be either country of nationality, or country of residence if you have been admitted for more than a year.
So in your case - just choose London. There is always a chance that CIC would choose the US instead, but I think it's unlikely in your case, as you have only lived in the US for 7 years (it's not like you have a UK passport and never lived there, so it should be all good).
Good luck!

I have one last question for you - which guidelines should I follow? It says to follow them for your residence - which I guess would be the US as I've been here for 7 years - however, if I want my forms to be filed in the UK would I go for the European guidelines? So worried I'm going to mess this up.
Thanks in advance!
