Bringing U.S. plated car into Canada?

Hi everybody,

I'm a European student coming to Vancouver for an exchange program at UBC for 4 months. Before I go to Vancouver I will be visiting L.A. and after I finish in Vancouver I will once again be visiting the States. My plan was to buy a car in L.A., register it in the U.S. and drive to Canada where I would use it for 4 months during the exchange. Afterwards I would drive back to the U.S. and drive around for another month and then sell the car as I head back to Europe. My question is the following: is it possible for me to drive the car I buy in L.A. in Vancouver for 4 months and then go back to the States?
