Hi

I am a Canadian PR...and I am currently residing in Singapore. I have a filipino domestic worker who has been with us for three years. We have no kids so we do not qualify to bring her as a live in caregiver. How do we bring her with us with the correct visa as a live in domestic helper. Any pointers would be great.

Best Regards

Andy

You should get a LMO to hire a domestic helper.
Both "domestic workers" and "live-in caregivers" are covered by the Employment Standards Act although they may not be exactly the same. “Domestic worker” is the term used by the provincial government. “Live-in caregiver” is the term used by the federal government and includes immigration aspects that do not affect the employment standards entitlements.

Prospective employers are strongly encouraged by Ministry of Labor to make a reasonable effort to first fill the position with a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a live-in caregiver already in Canada.

Hi Wilson

Thanks alot for the information. Can I use a Canadian employment agency to do the paperwork for me? I will ask around to see if they can help me handle the paper work. Thanks once again

Best Regards

Hi

I just looked at applying for an LMO...the application form is designed for companies bringing in foreign workers. I am just an individual trying to bring in my domestic helper that has been with me for three years. Am I looking at the wrong form? The form is for NOC C & D (low skilled workers)..so that should be right. Any one can help who has been through this before.

Best Regards

Andy
