Bridging open work permit validity

Hi,

I am already working in Canada and waiting for my PR result. I am planning to apply for open work permit.
My question is.. How long the open work permit wil valid valid for? OR will I get fix end date written on the permit?

a year. or until your passport expires if the expiry date is within the year.

I thought it will be valid until cic take a decision on my PR. Please correct me if m wrong.
