Hi,

I recently applied for permanent residence under CEC in December and my PGWP expires in February ending 2023, when can I apply for Bridging open work permit?

What is the processing time for BOWP and if it approve, how many months the permit will be issued?

Thanks

I think you can apply once you have your AOR (acknowledgement of receipt).
The BOWP would be valid for 1 or 2 years? I'm not sure. I never saw on the forum more than 2 years.
In my case this year, I got 2 years BOWP. (I applied in July and got approval in 2nd week of December)

Also, the processing time now is: 167 days based on the "processing time" website under "work permit from inside Canada"

I have a similar question.

I'm on a PGWP, which expires by the end of September 2023. I'll get a year of experience by June, which will bring me to 510 points on my Express Entry profile. Assuming that I get invited to apply very quickly after that, when can I apply to a BOWP?

Hi, Greetings
I applied for PR (CEC), inland with my spouse and kid on Dec 25, 2022, Currently, I am on a closed work permit (LMIA exempt). My closed work permit expires on Nov 2023.
My question is, Shall I apply Bridging open work permit(BOWP) and work for any employer, till my PR approval.
With applied BOWP status shall I be able to open to work with any employer or do we have to wait till the BOWP approval to work with any other employer?
I want to change my job
\please suggest.
Thanks and Regards,

Yes, you can apply for a BOWP. If you want to switch employers before you have PR, make sure you haven't claimed any points for having a job offer. As long as you haven't claimed the 50 job offer points, you are good to change employers.

Thank you so much for the reply, I have closed my work permit till nov 2023, I read in the link below, That: You are only eligible to submit a BOWP if your current work permit expires within 4 months. If you submit your BOWP and you currently have more than 4 months of validity on your work permit, your application will be refused

https://dfimmigration.ca/applying-for-a-bridging-open-work-permit-a-step-by-step-guide/#:~:text=Note: You are only eligible, your application will be refused.

Is this true, Shall I wait or apply?

My other concern is With the applied BOWP status shall I be able to open to work with any employer or do we have to wait till the BOWP approval?

Thanks for your time and reply.

Have you claimed the 50 points for the job offer and LMIA?
