Only the principal applicant is eligible for a bridging open work permit. A spouse is eligible for a spousal open work permit.

Your application will be rejected as you don't meet the eligibility criteria for BOWP, but to add many people have tried the same to test their luck.
For Some of them the application got approved and form some rejected.
So it's up to you, how bad you need an open work permit. If you don't mind loosing $150.

You're not eligible and your application will most likely be refused.

This is a pretty old thread but you should only apply when you have at most 4 months left on your current work permit.

mine is expiring in 34 days
i am asking because i want to know if they give priority to the applicants whose permits are expiring sooner than the others

Oh dang. You should apply ASAP. Although BOWP processing is pretty fast. Mine got approved after a day. (Well technically after a day they received a document I forgot to attach).
