I'm a Canadian-born citizen, though I've not lived in Canada for over 50 years, having emigrated to the US when I was 4 years old. Since then, I've become a naturalized US citizen, though I have an old expired Canadian passport and of course my birth certificate.
Now my US-born spouse and I are considering moving to Canada. We would not consider moving there until my wife has had her immigration application approved.
My question: Are there any complications for a non-resident Canadian citizen sponsoring a non-resident US spouse?
You can sponsor her, but you will have to include proof in the application that you will be going back to live in Canada once your wife gets her PR visa. Because you have been out of Canada since the age of 4, and are a US citizen, the visa officer will probably require more proof of your intent to return than average.
Think of everything you will have to do to relocate to Canada - how you will arrange your life so you can live in Canada, and how you will arrange to leave the USA. Then document all these preparations.
