My German husband will be entering Canada on a Working Holiday visa, and then we plan to apply inland for his PR right away.
Do we need to tell the border guards about the PR when he first goes through immigration for his WH visa? I'm Canadian and will also be entering Canada with him - do I have to go with him through immigration too?

No requirement to answer questions or provide explanations that are not requested. No, you don't have to go to immigration with him. His WHV is not related to your status.
