Birth place problem.

Hello all,

I have birth certificate and passport both but "Place of Birth" is different is in both certificate. However, my "Date of Birth" is correct in both.

I want to apply for Ontario PNP program as my CRS points are 406 and now I have only 2 months to apply and submit docs.

Is this difference can create any problem? is there any chances of getting rejected by Ontario PNP?

may be they will raise issue or also refuse. still i m not sure about that
normally cic consider birth certificate for proof of birth so i would suggest atleast
do something right away.u or your parents can make one affidavit for why it has difference.
best is get advise from canadian qualified and legal practitioner lawyer (not a ordinary agent).
if you escape from oinp ,u might will have trouble in cic process where they normally check birht certi
prevention is better that cure so do even not a big issue.good luck

I have applied for reissue the Passport to update "place of birth" field. However they have refused it and told me that they can't change it. I can't even change my birth certificate as well.

I'm really confuse. What should I do? Please help me if anyone have more information on this. I've only 2 months to apply.

Hi Yogipatel,

I have same problem and we are in same boat. I have conflict in Place of Birth in "Passport" vs "Birth Certificate".

I have applied for passport re-issue and we can do that and there is no problem in changing place of Birth in passport.

Yes the only problem is it cannot be done under TATKAL.

Following is more info on it from passport website

Q57: What is the process to change the date/place of birth in the passport?
A: To change the date/place of birth in the passport, you have to apply for a "Re-issue" of passport and get the specified change done in the personal particulars. To check the complete list of documents to be submitted along with the application form, please click on "Documents Required" link on Home page.

However I have booked under TATKAL by mistake and will visit to passport office on 25 Jan and if they will not accept it under TATKAL I will take appointment under normal process.

It is easier to get the correction in Passport by submitting birth certificate - do this please. As other member said you can use Tatkal facility.
