as a princiapl applicant is it compulsory to submit birth certificate or school leaving is valid for birth date proof ?
i applied for birth certificate and it will take some time (15-20) days to issue , i am worried about number of applicant 500 only in each category for 2011-2012.
other than birthcertificate whole file is ready ...should i go ahead or wait for birth certificate?

Here in India the 10th Certificate itself acts as a birth certificate for all tasks even for the Passport application, my questions from people applying from India is did they apply using 10th Certificate or did they apply for birth certificate as my father was in a transferable job so for me to get the birth certificate is virtually impossible.

Principaly yes. U need to share birth certificate. In case of absense (which is very common), alternates are acceptable likewise 10th grade certificate. But in this case, better write an explanation letter reasioning non availability of birth certificate. It works.

I am the dependant and I do not have a birth certificate.
I am using
1) 10th Class certificate
2) Affidavit from parents
3) Proof of birth certification from Consulate general of India in houston, USA (i live in USA)
I already have a post graduation degree from Canada, so I assume that the above documents should be sufficient.
Can someone who as already completed the process and made it to the medicals let me know if birth certificate alternatives were accepted for you.
You can submit your high schl certificates instead of birth crt ... no problem .. orginals are better but if you don't have it then submit schl crts...
