I am looking for some info on the birthcertificate issued in India. My spouse doesnt have a birth certificate, but he gave me copies of these:
1. Copy of Caste, Nativity and Birth Certificate (issued in AP) when he was 16
2. Copy of 10th Mark sheet
3. Copy of Pan Card
4. Copy of Driver's License
I looked at the country specific page for India once to confirm we have everything(we are done filling+proofs). But it seems like CIC is asking for Originals incase there is no birth certificate.
I am confused why would they need a original voter id or 10th class certificate. India – Instruction(s) for documents
Birth certificates issued in this country: If a birth is registered late, include the original baptism certificate and other original documents establishing identity such as:
Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
You can submit a photocopy as that is what I am doing too. I have attached a copy of the Aadhar card and voters ID along with his school leaving certificate.

Thanks for the update and congrats! Quick question: a photocopy of the birth certificate or the original? And was your spouse's birth registered late ("Date of Registration" field)? Thanks

Thanks, it was a photocopy of the original. Nope it was not registered late. We initially thought we dont have the birthcertificate, so i asked this question.

I have a similar case. My spouse didn't have her Birth Certificate. Our application was returned asking for her Birth Certificate. My Spouse's birth was registered late. We just got these two official documents:
1. Order of Late Entry of Birth
2. Birth Certificate
My questions:
1.Do we need to submit both of these original documents now? or just photocopies?
2. Do we need to submit original School certificate and original Voter ID as well?

Have you checked the country specific requirements?
Photocopy of birth certificate, and original school leaving certificate & Voter's ID but people have submitted just photocopies and it seems to have been fine.

When you say registered late, how late is considered late? Even a day later registration is considered late?
Please help as I am in similar situation. My spouse's birth is registered 2 days late. She was born on 18th and the Date of Registration was 20th. She is the PA.
Registered 10 days later for my spouse who is the PA and it is not considered as birth registered late - we got AOR etc.. I had mine registered on May 29 (23 days later) and it didn't cause issues with my CEC app in 2014.
