Can I submit a copy of my birth certificate? I don't have the original and so my only option would be to order a copy from the General Registry Office here in the UK. It will be a proper copy, but will stamped the date of copy.
Can I also submit a copy of my marriage certificate, or does that have to be an original?
My country specific guide just says "Provide national identity cards, birth certificate, baptismal certificate or other official document confirming relationship for you and each of your family members".
It doesn't specify if these certificates can be copies or originals.
Ah, ok, yes. I see what you mean. I think I need to stop assuming they there is a hidden meaning in these instructions, designed to trip you up. By the sounds of it, you really do need to take the instructions literally. Ok, I will just send copies then. Thanks again!
is this specific to the UK? because for the US guide (which i imagine is similar), "photocopies" means just photocopies. it does not mean photocopies have to be notarized.
