I am applying to Canadian colleges and universities for a diploma program and I came across a very interesting point.
I came to know that not all colleges grant PGWPP (Post graduate work permit). This is very interesting because, many international students are not aware if their college qualifies under Canadian rule to grant them PGWPP.
Many colleges also lie and give you misleading information about their PGWPP qualification. So please make sure before applying that upon graduation you qualify to receive a work permit.
In my case, I am in talks with Keyin College in Newfoundland. I have applied to 2 of their campuses and both of their answer differs regarding PGWPP.
One says that currently their graduates do not qualify for PGWPP and they are working to make this available in coming months.
While the other campus says that, " I’m not aware of any reason that Keyin graduates would not qualify- we do have a registered DLI number".
I don't understand what to do in this circumstances. If any of you have some experience in this matter, please help.
Keyin college does have DLI number but one of their representative is saying that their graduates do not qualify.
Also if you look at the list of DLI colleges in Nova Scotia, you will find Eastern College. But when I talked to them, their representative said that they are a private college and their graduates do not qualify for PGWP.
Many colleges with DLI number do not qualify for PGWP.
@neelb only public funded colleges and universities are eligible and also some private institutes which work like public institutes.Clearly mentioned on cic site. Registered DLI doesnot guarantee PGWP.

AFAIK, a college needs to have a DLI # for a foreign student to be able to get a study permit and study there.
For PGWP, it needs to be either: a degree/diploma/certificate from a public school, OR, a degree ONLY from a private college. So, let's say you wanted to attend a private college. If you studied and received an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree there full time (I don't know any that do PhD), you could apply for and receive PGWP. If you took a one year certificate program at a private college, no go. If you take that same one year certificate at a public school, you could get the 1 year PGWP.
