I'm a very recent PR on a FSW visa (my father's). I landed on February 22nd 2013 in Toronto and completed my immigration documents and SIN number from there, then left after a week or so and will return in July.

I recently got accepted into McGill ;D , and so I'm planning on living in Montreal, but I need the all the government aid I can get for school. And to be able to get government aid, I need to be a resident of the province I planing on getting the aid from (I need to stay 12 consecutive months in the province without being enrolled in a post-secondary institution, whether in Toronto or in Montreal). And so I'm planning on taking a gap-year to work and get some new experiences, give my parents some more breathing air to save up in my home country (Egypt), and also be eligible for government aid.

I would rather spend this year in Montreal, the city where I will later study, as it give me financial from Montreal and reduce the tuition fees even more as I'll be a Quebec Canadian rather than a Non-Quebec Canadian

So I guess my question is does my visa allow me to settle and become a resident in province or am I limited to certain provinces? because I've Quebec has lots of conditions and other papers and different procedures and stuff like that

In other words, should I spend my gap-year in Montreal and will it work in my condition, or am I limited to Toronto so I should just spend it in Toronto?

Any clarification or helpful suggestions are also welcomed
