I am American, visiting Canada, with my Canadian spouse and our dual citizen small daughter.
MY parents want to come visit from the US for a month or so. I am unclear if they are IMMEDIATE or EXTENDED family. If the former, they can just come through with minimal requirements; if they are EXTENDED then they require an application, written authorization, etc.
When I called the IRCC, the woman (French primary language) told me "beaux parent" meant they were IMMEDIATE family since that means in laws. BUT doesn't it also mean STEP? This is a critical question. She told me it should count as immediate and that they should be fine without the applications/forms, etc.
But I don't know if I can believe her bc of the translation thing. Please help!!
If they were your step parents, they would also be your immediate family as they would be your parents. But I guess your question is whether or not in-laws counts as immediate family members.

The only potential issue I see is that you're just visiting Canada and aren't living in Canada so they aren't coming to reunite with you they are wanting to join you while you are on vacation in Canada.
