Bank statement/pay slips for employment

my questions is how many pay slips and how many months of bank statement i have to show to prove that i have been paid for my employment. secondly my employer pays sometimes in cash (i deposit that cash in account) and other times through bank cheque, is this going to be a problem? whats the way around it, my company mentions in pay slips the mode of payment
