Valid passport, yes, for sure.
It's like my application sitting also at my local office awaiting it's turn to be completed, I guess...
We have no choice but to keep waiting. Although someone went to her MP on similar circumstances to inquire and did get a response right away.

they started to process nov 2009
transfer to vancouver april 2010
so it has been 13 months and they want me to wait another 6 months (at least)

Sounds like your application was transfered to your local office without AIP (mine was transfered with AIP).
If that's the case, it can take up to a year or more for you to get your interview scheduled. When they transfer without AIP, applicants have to wait for their interview.
Sorry about this. The good news?, your application was not refused but transfered instead at this point.

You are welcome!.
The comfort of this inland application is that at least while we wait forever, we are together with our loved ones... that is a big plus.
Good luck!.

Latest update as of this evening:
I received finally my COPR appointment letter in today's mail!.
There is light at the end of the tunnel!.
Hang in there!.
Rob.

I'm in the same boat here, I sent my application in August 18 2009 and they transferred to Vancouver office in April 8 2010. I called CIC in September 2010 and the agent said they would send me a letter in October 8th with a date for my appointment with local office (I thought about an interview) I never received the letter and call again, this time the agent said my file was sitting there waiting for an agent to work on it. I called again and this time the agent was a very nice woman and she told me that an agent cannot know if a letter will be sent and she doesn't understand why they gave me this information, the only thing she could see in my case is that someone was finally working on my file.
I decided not to call again because I'm always hearing a different answer, It's very frustrating being here and not being able to work, study nor see my family and more frustrating that they don't give an answer just say whatever they want to say.

I did notice that situation with the Call Center agents.. I called a couple of times before submitting the application and always got contradictory info, so I decided not to call them again ever. Going in person to my local office was just as displeasing as guy working the counter didn't even pretend to care when I was waiting to receive my landing appointment letter from there...
I landed last wednesday finally, though. But now I do feel sad as I see and learn of other applicants still waiting and waiting, being transfered to local offices or being refused. And here I am landed and everything..
I wish everyone would be approved especially the ones who in my opinion are clearly on legit marriages.
I hope you get good news finally, best of luck.
Rob.

Thanks for your words RobRod and congratulations! Reading your post made me have a new HOPE!

You are welcome, ReginaC!... Your local office will contact you eventually and hopefully with the best news ever!... The landing appointment is all worth the wait... it's so easy but the best noun to describe it is: sweet.
Hang in there!.
