Hi....I was approved as a sponsor in Nov 2008. CIC started processing my husband's application in December 2008. In Feb '09 he had his interview at the Embassy. Since than we have not heard anything from them. They kept telling us that his case was stuck in Background checks. This is now 19 months of background checks. Today there was an update on E-Cas. Can someone tell me what this could mean?
We started processing your application on December 23, 2008.
Medical results have been received.
We transferred your application to the Vienna office on October 14, 2010. The Vienna office may contact you.
Does this mean that they have completed the Background Checks? or possibly they want a Security Interview?
I am very exited about the update, but now I am not sure what it means.
I am thinking that the Checks are done and that now we can move to the next step.
Please share your thoughts on the E-Cas update....I need to pick everyone's brain as 2 years is far too long to be without my husband.
Thx
He's from Serbia, but all cases are processed through Vienna. Originally, when I was approved as a sponsor the Application was sent to Vienna. Then he had his interview in Belgrade, Serbia (Canadian Embassy), but still under Vienna. The Embassy rep that interviewed my husband requested the Background Checks. I assume that the file has been with the Department that completes Background Checks or CSIS. I assume that they are now complete and that the app has been sent back to Vienna to continue with the process.
Background checks his or her application to resume, a job applicant, and by interviewing a potential employer is the process of verification of information supplied. Most application process, background and credentials lying about the applicant will keep employers from hiring. Background checks to employers that the candidate's background and experience he or she ensures claims.

Huh? Spam? This has NOTHING to do with the a family class background check.
To the OP, you might want to order the CAIPS notes now to see if the background checks have been completed. Hopefully it's a good sign that the file has been transferred but the CAIPS should tell you want you need to know.
