Hello Members,

My question is regarding parents sponsorship application.

I received a reply back from London visa office after several weeks and their reply is as follows:
Please note that this application is currently awaiting Security and Criminality review. We are unable to advise when this review will take place, however, please rest assured that we will contact you as soon as there have been any further developments.

My question is, what do they mean by "review" and who would be performing this review? From visa office reply, what timeline should be inferred for this review to be completed (if anyone knows of someone else in the same situation and their timeline, it will greatly help).

Please VIP (Pippin, canadianwoman, scylla, qorax, PMM, Leon) and other members, kindly reply.

It means they're investigating whether the Principal Applicant has any criminal history, or state-security reasons why they might be dangerous to Canada.

This will be done by a combination of national police and intelligence agencies.

It can take days, weeks, or months, depending on which agencies are involved, and what they find.

In My case backgound check took almost 10 months to complete at London visa office and now finally got decision made. when i asked about delay i also got same reply.

Every case is different, it can take just few weeks to year. It also depends if applicant has extensive travelling history, Prior Govt. Positions, Miltary services. etc.
