My background check has been in progress for almost 5 months now. I noticed for most people it changes to not needed after a couple of weeks.
Does this mean that my file will be delayed?
Is this fairly common?

omg i'm so happy you posted it. I'm also a CEC inland applicant, and my background has been in progress since April 20th. Did you order your GCSM notes?
relax, nothing to worry.. this happened as they didn't looked into your application.. by the looks of it they cleared your medicals and hopefully your education, They should have assigned a date to look back into your application..

interesting. I know they I passed my medicals and my education shouldn't be a problem either.. One of the due dates on my application was May 20, but I didn't get any ghost emails and no updates either...

Does BG go back and forth between statuses for Inlands, too? I thought it mostly happens to Outlands when their application is being sent to their LVO.
And anyway, there are cases where BG just goes in progress, and that's it, and even cases where BG never goes in progress, or does so just a couple hours before the PPR.
What I'm trying to say - the fact that yours hadn't changed yet doesn't mean anything, I think.
As for why it's been in progress for that long - you're an inland, BG goes in progress right away for you guys, but it doesn't mean the IRCC has been working on your application all this time and there's some kind of problem. It's been 5 month for you, and if they didn't requet anything else, I'd say you'll see some kind of movement in June. Moreover, they usually start with Inlands when they begin processing a new month. So you might get your PPR in the first June rain.
