Hi I am writing this query on behalf of my friend. We both applied together around January 2017. While I have received the PR, my friend's application appears to be stuck in the 'Background Check' phase. Recently in April he was asked to make the balance payment of I believe the 'RPR Fee', but he has still not received the request for passport. The problem now is that his passport is due for renewal with its date of expiry being in November. What should he do ? Should he wait till he received the request for passport or should he go ahead and renew his passport ?? What impact will this have on his application ? Is there anybody else out there who faced a similar scenario ? Please provide us with some guidance.
Thanks and Regards,
AHP

Apply for a renewal, when he gets a new passport, raise CSE and update the visa officer. Let him know about a new passport and reason for a new passport.

Thanks for your response! One thing I forgot to ask , will he need a new PCC on the new passport or will the old one suffice ?
