My fiancee and I are getting married here in Canada in December but before start the sponsor process she wants to stay back home for 3 months to visit her family. Could that be a problem? Is 3 months a long time? Could she get any trouble to come back?
 
You mean staying back home before submitting the application? I don't think this is a problem ...

As long as you haven’t applied inland she is free to travel abroad. You may consider filing for Outland if she will be gone for 3 months.
