I was born in Canada and my baby was born in Finland in 2017. I submitted a proof of citizenship in Paris embassy in July and would like to know realistically how much time this usually take?
CIC says 5 months + 3 to 4 months (because I applied in embassy) which is so long
Status is the following:
We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on July 25, 2018.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on August 21, 2018.
In general waiting time for the certificate to arrive to Paris will be similar to the time it took between when you deposited the application in the embassy and when it was received by IRCC, so I believe around 3 weeks in your case.
I'm also waiting for my daughter's and I've got a very similar timeline.
Applied: 28 June
Received at CIC: 23 July
AOR: 15 August
Certificate Sent: September 26, 2018
I will probably receive it around 20 October.
So also all in all 2 months for the processing of straightforward applications, and 2 months for mailing time.

If you live outside Canada and the United States and are applying through a Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate, add 3 to 4 months to the processing time to account for mailing time.
