I submitted my application for residency a few months ago. My Health card is expired (I was originally in canada on a Work Permit). Am I eligible to renew my OHIP card while waiting for my PR to be completed?
I have a letter from CIC stating my application has been received. Does the qualify for one of the documents I can use to renew my OHIP card?
Thanks!

Answer will depend on if you applied inland or outland.
Inland - under Family Sponsorship. My husband is a canadian citizen.

You do not qualify yet for OHIP. Assuming you submitted an Open Work Permit app along with inland PR app, then in approx 4 months you should get your OWP in the mail. After you have OWP,
AND after you have a full time job offer in hand, only then will you qualify for OHIP and can then apply. After applying you then need to wait additional 3 months for waiting period.
Or if you didn't submit an OWP or aren't eligible for OWP, then you will need to wait until you get AIP/Initial Assessment completed which as of current CIC site is a 15 months wait (and then again another 3 months waiting period for OHIP).
