My Work Permit Application (applied outside Canada) is in process and last week I received a letter from the Canadian Consulate asking me to provide Police Clearance from Australia as I have lived there for more than 6 months. The Australian Federal Police received my application and fingerprints on 20th June and I was wondering how long does it usually take to get these checks done.
According to the AFP website, it take 'approximately 30 working days' for NPC+Fingerprint check.
My question is.... do they really take so much time for the process or it is the maximum time that they take?
Anyone here gone through this and got their PCC earlier?
I too was in Australia for 6 months 2 days above...you can apply online directly by submitting the fingerpints from the country of present residence and courier it with a draft.
For my case i hired an agency to did on my behalf and i paid 100AUS$ extra. (www.australianvisa.com) this agency helped me to followup on my behalf since time is valuable in your case and the time window is very short. I suggest its worth going through an agency chances of delay are minimal coz you wont have another chance to resumbitt doc if required.
My NPC clearance certificate arrived within a week of me applying at the post office. Not sure about the fingerprint stuff though, I haven't been asked to do that although our situations are probably different.
Just wanted to update everyone that apparently it only took 2 weeks to receive my NPC + fingerprint check (Or maybe even lesser as I checked my mailbox on the weekend). Got my Visa and flying to Canada in couple of weeks!
Thanks everyone for your answers and support.

Give them a call on +61 2 6202 3333. I called them one week after the submission and resolved all my queries. They are very friendly, so ask them everything you want to know and they'll help you out.
