Australian looking to re-enter Canada on WHP / obtain PR

I am an Australian citizen and currently have a Working Holiday Permit that will expire 21 January 2011. I have spent 5 months studying in Canada during 2009. The WHP visa states that it is "Not Authroised for Re-entry" however, I have just stumbled upon the following post in another topic.

If you hold a Canadian WV and an Australian or NZ passport then this does not apply to you....

any other passport, you're probably NOT exempt from this...

I graduate in early December and was looking to return to Canada asap (for the current ski season). I just want to clarify that I can re-enter in December and extend my visa for another 2 years once I arrive.
OR
Would I have to wait for it to expire and re-apply from Australia next year?

Also, I am looking to potentially obtain Permanent Resident status. What would be my best option to achieve this? Skilled worker? I would have a degree and also experience within my field of study, no dependants or spouse.
