Are all documents returned with passport?

DHL is picking up my husband's passport with PR visa at the embassy tomorrow. Does anyone know if all the documents we provided (original marriage certificate, photos, etc) will also be returned? Our lawyer says he'll need to have our marriage certificate with him when he lands in Canada but the embassy requested it when we went for our interview.

No, they are generally not returned

No, the documents are not returned... generally people submit photocopies for this reason, not originals

Yes! They returned my spouse original hiphone school certificate, original 2 semester transcript and our original marriage certificate almost two months ago after I submitted spouse sponsorship application on 26 Jan, 2017.

They returned all the documents we brought to our interview along with his passport & visa, but not anything we submitted with our initial application. This is fine, we really only needed our marriage certificate back

We had all of our documents returned to us, photos and all.

My husband did not need a marriage certificate to land though, that part confuses me...
