Applying PGWP on Implied/ Maintained Status

I was enrolled in a 1 year Post Graduate Diploma in Douglas College and my original study permit expired on Nov 30, 2024 and I had to take up another semester to repeat a course to complete my graduation requirement GPA. So I had applied for a study permit extension on Nov 15, 2024 before expiration of my original study permit i.e. Nov 30, 2024. My program ended on Dec 9, 2024 and I received my course completion letter on Dec 23, 2024. Currently, I have not received my Study permit extension and my original study permit has expired. Can I apply for PGWP on maintained status or do i have to wait till I get my study permit extension to apply for PGWP? If yes, then can I work part time or full time until I receive my PGWP approval on maintained status?

You can apply for PGWP but you can't work as you need to have a valid study permit at time of application to be able to work.

If your study permit is rejected, you will have to apply for restoration as well.

You can apply for your PGWP as long as you have completed your studies and have the necessary documentations for it, I have a similar problem like you but the only difference with mine is that I applied for my study permit extension 40 days before expiration date but yours is 15 days
and I have applied for my PGWP as I received my completion letter from school on 23rd December.

Hi, Thank you for responding. Did you start working after submitting your PGWP? Did you receive your study permit extension?

Hi, thanks for responding. If I apply pgwp while waiting for my study permit extension and after submission I receive my study permit extension in like a month or 2 because it's already been more than one month since I applied, can I resume working after receiving my extension while waiting for pgwp approval ?

You cannot work until PGWP has been received.
