I have filed my application under FSW in Sept 2008 via Buffalo which then transferred my case to New york. I finally got the update to appear for medicals on October 1st 2009. Last week my case was updated online that my medicals have been received.
Does anyone know how much longer I have to wait? Would the next step be passport request? ANy chance this would happen before the end of the year..?
Another question: I am in Canada right now - so when they do ask for a passport request, can I go in person to the consulate rather than mail it?
Could anyone please help me wrt my questions.. Thanks!
If the CIC is satisfied with your medical results, they will ask you for the passport. It should not take more than 3-4 weeks to get the visa stamped. However, there are cases wherein the applicant has received his/her passport after a couple of months.
Even if you go to the Consulate in Buffalo (not Canada), don't expect them to stamp your passport right away. The procedure is the same and will take the same amount of time either way.
It really varies person to person. As of now, Buffalo is kinda slow. Ideally you should get a passport request within 4-6 weeks of your medical results being sent to CIC.
I applied in Oct, 2008 via Buffalo and transfer to NY on August 11, 2009. I recently received a letter requesting Medicals and fees. So I guess we are on the same boat.

Hey, I am still waiting for the call for passport. The eCas status has been the same since a while - Medical Results have been received.
I have a couple of friends who had applied before me (I think 6 weeks) and have got the Passport request. One of them have also got the passport stamped and is a PR now.
How much longer do you think we have to wait? I was hoping it would come as a Xmas or New year gift

Hey everyone - I got my passport request last night. It was the perfect end to my good day!!
The decision was made on 15th Jan, mailed from NY on 19th Jan and reached me on 25th Jan.

Congratulation! Your passport request has has helped me to keep hope alive. I got medical request the same day and month like yours. But up to this day, no further information from NY. My medical was sent oct 27, and my wife's oct 29. But up to date, my e cas is still showing "in process'. No update. We I am really expecting that this week or next, I will get my passport request.
