I'm hoping someone could assist.

I'm trying to apply for a work permit while my PR, through my spouse, is being completed. The PR application has taken 2.5 years and counting for no reason other than a backlog. Incredibly frustrating.

I'm finding it difficult to find the separate work permit application through my IRCC online account. Is it possible to apply for a work permit after a PR application has been submitted? The reason I ask this, whenever I go through the questions to apply it keeps telling me there is an application already being processed. I can only assume this is my PR application (I only have the one PR application without a work permit).

Do I need to do a paper application if I am applying for a work permit separate from my PR application?
