Hello guys,

I'm on a TN visa in USA looking to apply for PR for my spouse (who will be on TD visa once she arrives here)

1) Do I apply outland from US? I understand we have to show docs that prove the plan to return to canada once her PR is granted. Is it good enough to show family, a residence there and letter from family stating that they are willing to have us live at the house until we look for new housing/jobs ??
2) Is it possible to apply for a Visitor visa after sending in the application for her PR ?

Thanks in advance,

Dileep

1. yes, you can apply outland from the us. keep in mind, CIC may still decide to process the application based on your country of citizenship. Generally though, if you have a valid residence in a country for more than 12 months, they will process based on that country. also, it's important to note US PRs don't always see the same speedy process as us citizens.

1a. yes, CIC wants to see you have a plan for resettling. it doesn't need to be set in stone - they understand that is not always possible. letters of support from family in canada, research on areas/housing/jobs/industries to work in also is recommended.

2. yes, you can certainly apply for a visitor's visa (assuming you're not visa exempt). while it's not impossible to get, it is very difficult to get approved. there are threads on this board to help increase success in getting the visitor's visa. if you are visa exempt, then you don't qualify for a visa, and only need your passport to enter canada. there are also threads on here about that.
