Applying for Post Graduate Work Permit on New Passport

Hi,

I will be graduating and will be applying for PGWP. My question is as my passport will expire in September 2020 and my studies will be completed by the end of May 2020. After getting my new passport can I apply for PGWP on the new passport or do I need to extend my study permit on the new passport first and then apply for PGWP.

I will be completing my eduction in April 2020 and will be applying for PGWP by the end of May as soon as I receive my transcripts. My current passport expires in September 2020 so applying for PGWP on my current passport is not possible. I will be applying for my new passport in March 2020.
