Applying for co-op visa while waiting for study permit extension

Hello,

My wife has applied for a study permit extension back in December 2018, which is still in processing.
Now she got accepted to for a co-op program through the school, can she apply for the co-op visa while the study permit extension is still pending or is it advisable to wait? I would expect that this may be a pretty common scenario, but wanted to know your thoughts.

Thanks, luckily she just received yesterday her visa extension approval so the two won't collude together

However I also applied for Express Entry and added her as a secondary dependent. From my understanding this should be fine as there is the dual intent for temporary residents: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...esidents/visitors/dual-intent-applicants.html
So she should be able to apply for her co-op visa while being on the Express Entry pool as a secondary applicant right?
