Applying for Canadian Permanent Residency from Australia

Hey all,

Posting on behalf of myself (Canadian) and my boyfriend (Australian) of 3 years. He had been on a working holiday visa living with me in Canada from July of 2014 until the end of December 2015, when we both moved to Perth for the year (where I am on a WHV). We'd like to have him apply for permanent residency in Canada when we move back after this year, and I wanted to ask if anyone has experience trying to apply for Canadian permanent residency from Australia through a common-law sponsorship. Thanks! I have another question better suited to this board: Does anyone know current wait times for processing Permanent Residency applications submitted in Australia? In addition, is it necessary to stay in Australia until it is approved, or can my partner return to Canada with me and wait for it there? Thanks!

Your question is actually far better suited to the Family Sponsorship section of the forum. Again, would once again recommend you move over there. All of these questions (including processing times specific to Australia) are extensively discussed there. This section of the forum gets extremely little traffic.
