I’m wondering if it’s still possible to apply for a work permit from within Canada, my sister has been in Canada from the UK for 4 years living with me on a visitor visa, she is in the process of potentially getting a job through an LMIA but from what we are reading now she’d have to leave for 3 months to apply for the work permit?
What is her status in Canada if she has been here for 4 years? What has she done for 4 years? She could flagpole and see if it works with her job reference letters, ECA and IELTS/TEF results.

she’s been extending her visitor visa and I’ve been supporting her so she hasn’t worked for 4 years now, we know someone who owns a health market that is getting an LMIA to employ her but I thought with the new rules you couldn’t flagpole anymore

Where is the job located and how much is the pay? Does she have some sort of specialized skill or just retail sales? Cashier? When does her visit record expire? How old is she? She may be able to return to the UK and apply for IEC.

Well LMIA may not be approved due to new rules. So she will need to show experience working in a grocery store. If working with the public then will want IELTS. If she has extended her visitor visa and not left, don’t think that she will be able to flagpole.
