Applying for a visitor visa before expiration while PR App Processing

Hello,

My visitor visa is expiring in may and I wanted to know if I could apply for another one before it expires? Submitted PR application mid January.

Do I have to wait until it expires before applying for a new one?

So apply to extend 30 days before expiry.
