I've been in Canada for ~5 years. Have a full time permanent job. I plan to submit a study visa by Aug 6 for a Sept program start. Anyone with experience/idea how many days processing currently takes now. I need to accept a TAship by month end and really worried. Current processing just changed from 6 to 7 weeks for study permit application inside Canada. I know it's just an estimate as my husband got approved for his study permit extension last year within 3 days - when online info was showing that processing takes 8 weeks.

Processing times really vary and unfortunately it's hard to say. You are applying quite late. It's quite possible you may have the study permit approved for September. There's also some chance it won't be processed in time and they may ask you to defer your studies to the next semester.
Thanks @scylla. I totally agree with you. I just hope for a miracle as I need to send the study permit to my uni by Aug 22 to accept a teaching assistantship.
