I am in Canada and on dependent open work permit and I already applied for PR application along with my husband and we are waiting for our COPR but due to covid situation this is going to take time. Meanwhile, I also got Letter Of Acceptance from college and I am thinking of applying for a study permit and my session is going to start from September,2021 but because of current scenario I might not get PR till September.
So, my questions are:-
1- Can I apply for a study permit while my PR application is under process? If yes, will my study permit application cause any impact on my PR application ( delay or reject it)?
2- Will there any chance that my study permit gets rejected because of PR application?
My friend has the same situation as yours and he even consulted to a immigration lawyer.
And lawyer advised him to not to change his status( not to apply for any permit) and wait for COPR. The moment you apply for any new permit IRCC will know and will cancel your PR application.
