I am applying for my parent's visitor visa (not super visa) so they can visit us from back home but I also want to apply for their immigration at the same time.
They intend to stay here for 2-3 months only and then return.
My question is, are these valid situations?
1) I apply for their visit visa and sponsorship at the same time?
2) they visit here and return while their sponsorship is in progress?
3) apply for their visit visa again in 2-3 years or so while their sponsorship application is in progress.
I dont want to apply for super visa because of health insurance costs and they dont want to stay here for an extended time anyways.
They will probably visit this year and probably one more time in 2 years or so and then not again until their immigration is done.
Also, how long does it take for the first 5000 application quote to hit?
I'll help with one question. The 5,000 application cap was reached in a day and half last year. It's safe to assume it was reached even faster this year (likely on Monday). If your application hasn't already been submitted to CIC - then it's too late to apply for 2016.
A visit visa and their PR sponsorship, are 2 different things. It's no problem to do a parents PR app while they are here as visitors, and during the processing they can visit as often as they want.
The earliest you can apply now is January 2017, assuming you have CRA income statements for tax years 2013, 2014 and 2015 at minimum income levels for your family size.
