Got another weird question to ask .. As I'm about to cross the 30 years of age mark, my points score is gradually going to drop. I'm planning to do a Masters in the US starting this Fall, and I was wondering if there's a way I can file for EE now, as my points are at their peak (around 450), but go to Canada after completing my Masters in the US ?
Any way to do the above ?
EDIT: Based on this tool, my current score is 478. Note that I have not taken IELTS yet, but tool TOEFL a few months back, and converted that score to IELTS using an official ETS chart for close approximation.
Once your PR visa is issued, you have to come to Canada and "land" before it expires. You usually have a few months to do this. You can return to the US immediately. To keep your PR status you must live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 years.
Well that's good I guess, but from what I understand, you initially don't get your PR visa/card, rather you get some temporary Visa to enter Canada, and after a few months you get your PR card sent to your address. So won't this create the following two problems ?:
1) I assume CIC will want to send me the PR card/visa to a Canadian address, since they expect me to be living in Canada. Won't this cause a problem as I'll actually be in the US ?
2) Like I said, the PR card/visa is sent after a few months. Don't Canadian expect you to be living in Canada for you to receive this PR card ?
Can I have the PR card sent to a distant family relative who lives in Canada ? I don't want to rent a house just for the sake of having a Canadian address
Also, if I file my application now, my address will change in August when I go to the US for my Masters. Will this cause any problems whatsoever, as I've changed my country ?
