Applied for Student Permit Extension then applied for PGWP later on

Hello everyone! I hope you will give insights with my inquiry. First, I finished my first program Aug 26. I have already applied for Student Permit Extension and waiting for the decision. I am now working full time since I decided to take a break and work full time for my second program. But now I have decided to apply for PGWP. Do I need to withdraw my SP application? I do my research and saw that if I applied for PGWP while on process of student visa extension I cannot work at all unless I received my PGWP's decision. Please share if you ahem the same experience.
