Hi. Just thought of sharing this.....we got our sponsorship approval on 19th September

.it took less than 20 days including the weekends
Jas...
Hey I got a question for you, My husband and I want to start the process, but I do have a question for you... My husband needs to be approved first, right, are there more than one sending forms and application or not, or just the whole thing and they tell you if you are approved and then just keep going, or He needs to be approved first and then send all the application and documents... please help!!
@Angielou, yes your husband needs to be approved first as a sponsor, thats the first stage. And you need to send everything for this, i mean all forms and supporting documents, and required documents for you and your husband or in other words the applicant and the sponsor. You can find all the forms and guidelines in this website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
Hope it helps!

Everything gets sent in at the same time, in one package. Once they get the package from you they work through it in sequence. Your husband's sponsorship is evaluated first and needs to be approved before the next stage, your application, is commenced. Once his sponsorship is approved they send your application to the processing visa office and start that part of the process.
I hope that clarifies things for you.

I had this question too when we first started the process. You fill out all the of the paper work and send his application and your application in at the same time along with any supporting documents. They look at the sponsor first then pass along your paperwork to those who will approve or deny you. However as for the Fee's you need to pay the Sponsorship Fee and the Application fee and mail in the receipt in with all your paperwork. The RPRF (Right of Permanent Residence Fee) Can also be paid at the same time OR to save money you can defer it and only pay it ONCE you are approved. They claim the process will go faster if you pay up front, but thats an extra $500 that i don;t think you get back if denied. So we chose to wait since money is tight.
Also I just wanted to share that WE GOT OUR SA!!!!!!!! the letter is dated September 12th, so a month after our application was received. It got sent to my husband;s home in BC but he hasnt been home so if had to be forwarded to me. But finally got it! Also, only the UCI on the letter is what works to login for us. But we are excited! Only 256534546 more months to wait! lol
The strike is over, so hopefully things will speed up now: http://www.pafso.com/news_releases.php?newsID=168

The 490CAD representing RPRF are returned in case the sponsored person doesn't get the visa.

We never received an AOR but after waiting and worrying SA has been received and the file transferred. Now, we are waiting for Quebec. I hope they don't take too long - I can't wait to be patient ;D
