Application through Non-SDS due to lack of medical documents

Hello All,

I was all set to apply through SDS category and have paid my 1 year tuition and have my GIC certificate. However, there is a lockdown in my city and due to this the hospitals are not providing appointments for medical checkup.
My education consultant suggests that I should go ahead and apply through Non-SDS as it does not require medical checkup up front.

Is this reliable information? Should I proceed with non-SDS and risk rejection or wait it out and defer my semester?

U don't need medical upfront for Non-SDS.. but there will be a medical request approximately one month after u submit your application..

Applying through non SDS does not mean you will be refused. You will receive a medical request which you can then take to the hospital and do your medicals. As for deferring -- it's really your call.

The primary difference is that SDS simplifies the visa application process and only requires specific documents including an upfront medical exam for processing. Compared to last year, we are more experienced in dealing with pandemic challenges and protocol. Also, since the trend for new cases have been falling substantially for the past week. In the best-case scenario, panel physicIan’s can reasonably resume their sevicies by the end of this month.

But, as others have noted, the specific stream (SDS or non-SDS) through which you apply doesn’t seem to have any bearing on the outcome of the application

If you’re confident about your program choice, then I would take online classes until the visa is stamped. The eligibility for PGWP(distance education) is good until 31, December 2021. But, before you do that, confirm with your university in writing that the tuition fees will be fully refunded in the unfortunate case that your application is refused.
