Hi, hoping someone can shed some light for me. I am an American citizen, currently in Canada on a visitor visa with my wife who is a Canadian citizen. We applied in June and just received our entire application returned in the mail due to missing forms. My question is - do I need to update my police certificate? I know that they are valid for a year but it has already been 6 months since I had it done and I'm afraid it will be expired by the time my application is processed a second time. I plan on redoing the passport photos since they are only good for 6 months.

I think the pcc is valid for 6 months only. The best advice here is let a lawyer represent you. Pay a lawyer to complete all the documentation.Your case is pretty easy. Just need some guidance.

I think your plan of updating them is good. To avoid missing forms I would suggest you apply online, but it's your call depending on how much work that will be. In any case make sure to download all the forms again and check if any have new versions.
