There are many persons who have submitted the 10 certificates as DOB proof and it is acceptable by the visa office (atleast the New delhi accepts as per the forum members).
In the visa office photo specifications they ask for date of photo taken to be mentioned on back of photo alonwith other details.

consult your visa office specific checklist and you will find 'photo requirement' section. this will tell you how many photos you have to send and will refer you to 'how to fill this form' section for how to prepare photos.
for example for singapore vo you have to send five photos and on the back of the photo you have to write name, height, and eye colour. for your visa office it may be different. pls check and resubmit. hope it will be ok.
