Hi all,
My husband has applied for PR under family sponsorship in March 2017. Last communication was April 2018 stating a positive eligibility and the next step being the background check. Also, we received a letter informing us about pre arrival services. Husband’s application currently being reviewed in Beirut. Is it commun to take this long for a final decision?
Another question: after recieving positive eligibilty letter, how long does the background check take?
Last question: the officer wrote a note that my husband should resign feom his job and leave his country of residence once decision has been made. Has this statement been given to anyone before??
Thank you,
Amy
background check takes awhile to complete and timeline is on a case basis..........the officer may have a reason for the note, but don't worry about it.....your application is been processed.......patience

The background check can take anywhere from a few weeks to like, a year, if he's doing ss (security screening) it all depends on his travel history, nationality ect. Just be patient The bgc is usually the last phases of the application. Next is ppr your husband doesn't need to resign from his job. He just needs to enter Canada by the time his medical expires, which is 12 months from the time it was done.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! They want him to quit his job and lose income before ppr even issued? That's absolutelyinsane, and the first case I've ever heard of
Are you also living there? It is a bit extreme but they need proof you will be relocating to Canada when you're granted PR. There must be some issue that is causing concerns about your case.
