Hi,

1) In a dual intent case, will the tourist visa have a negative impact on the PR visa? That is, will the immigration officer processing my wife's PR application reject it because she also applied for a tourist visa?

2) How can I increase the chances of getting an approved Tourist visa. For example, can I purchase the return ticket and show her family ties to her home country?

3) What are the chances of getting an approval? I have already applied for a PR app for my wife through the Damascus office.

Your advice/experience/views would be greatly appreciated.

1. No.

2. Difficult. When assessing the TRV they will know there is a PR application in progress. This shows she intends to move to Canada permanently, which is a big factor against granting the TRV. You can try to show family ties, job, apartment etc.

3. Unlikely they would approve the TRV, but certainly no harm in trying.

Did you eventually apply? was it granted?

This thread was from ten years ago, and the person you asked has not posted here since 2011.

You might try a different approach. There are many threads about TRVs that are much more recent.
