According to the latest announcement from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), immigrant workers applying for visas under 29 eligible occupations should consider the cap applied to each category before it is reached.
As of July 1, 2011, a maximum of 10,000Federal Skilled Worker Visa applications will be considered for processing in the following 12 months. CIC have announced thatCanadian visa applicants for the following two occupation categories have reached their cap:
• Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management;
• Professional nurses.
This means that immigrant workers applying under either of these two categories must have an offer of arranged employment in order for their application to be considered.
Only 500 federal skilled worker visas are available for applicants in each eligible occupation who do not have a pre-arranged offer of employment.
The statistics from CIC show that 2, 983 visa applications were received as of October 18, 2011. The following details the number of visa applicants received in each eligible occupation (with code) as of October 18, 2011.
• 0631 Restaurant and Food Service Managers : 288 applicants
• 0811 Primary Production Managers (except Agriculture) : 24 applicants
• 1122 Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management : Cap reached
