On Schedule 1, Background/Declaration, question 9. If you were "detained or put in jail" but you do not know exact dates, or even if there were any charges laid, (just questioned) what would be the best thing to put in the explanation. The police certificate shows it is clear and a request for any arrest record shows it is clear (they clear it after 5 years have passed) but still don't know if there ever was a record. Don't want to lie on the form but don't really want to make the background check drag out any longer then necessary either. :'(
I don't see how it would add time to your background check if you were detained/jailed in a country where you have a clean criminal record.
As always: Be honest and explain potentially problematic issues so they cannot be misunderstood. You'll be fine.
Contact the authorities of the country where you were detained and they should be able to give you the details.

Well so far we have the police clearance for that country, and then went one step further and requested an arrest record, which came back clean - the details have been erased because it has been over 5 years. (Not even sure there was any record. ) Also, it was for someone that was under 18 at the time, so I'm not sure it would be relevant. I'm not sure how much further there is to go in order to find any more information??. I guess we will just explain it as best as we can and go from there.
