ok i am a bit frustrated right now... can someone give me some opinions on this please! my wife who lives in Costa Rica just sent me her 8 photos, i measured it with a ruler and it was not right... for the length on the paper it says it has to be 45 mm, i got around 55mm, the width has to be 35mm i got around 55mm for width, and for the face, the max is 30mm, i got around 43mm.... is it ok to send these pictures??? or do I need to redo them, because i am just to my limit with all this applications stuff help me!
Hi garytheoiler, much better if you get a new photo, take that appendix B paper to the photographer so that they know the right size of the photo. If you submit that photos that you have now for sure the embassy will return that to you again ask for a new one. Hope this help..
It might be hard to find a photographer who knows how to do Canada immigration photos. My suggestion is to ask your wife to go to a photography place, have professional pics taken with a white panel behind her, and pay for the file and send it to you in Canada. You can then take the file to a photography here in Canada and they will know what you're looking for.

Yes you will need to redo them. They could be a cause for your application to be sent back to you and you can't afford a delay like that over something so easily resolved.
this is the additional details kit specifically for people from Costa Rica. It includes a sheet with measurments required she can take with her to the photographer.
If the size of her head is within the guidelines, you should beable to just trim the photos down to the correct size since it sounds like they printed them approximately 2 inches square (my husband had the same issue, that's the only size you get in the US). From her chin to top of head needs to be between 25mm (1") and 30mm (1 1/5""). If the image of her head is too big or small to fit in that range then she would need new pictures.
Kess' suggestion is what I did. My head measured correctly so I carefully trimmed each photo as straight as I could and making them match eachother as best as I could. I had no issues.
Getting a photographer who can do it (or even understands what you mean) can be tough. The photographers I spoke with said that passport-sized photos should work. But I didn't want to take a chance so I trimmed them myself.
Check the applicant's guide/Region Specific Guide under photo specifications. I guess that your wife is using the same guide as I did (Latin America). I remember having to write on the back of only one photo my name, date of birth and date the picture was taken. The rest of the pictures (8 total) did not have anything written.
